Matcha tea is the highest quality powdered green tea available. It’s made from the finest leaves picked from the tips of the shade grown Camellia Sinensis plant. The leaves are dried, de-stemmed, de-veined and finally stone ground into a fine, bright green powder.

Matcha green tea has been consumed in Japan for well over 1000 years. The Japanese Zen Buddist monks used it as a way of staying calm, alert and awake whilst meditating. It is now a part of the Japanese tea ceremonies and culture.

What’s the best way to prepare the Matcha green powder?

I find the best way to consume Matcha is to make a latte.

  1. Add 1/2 teaspoon of powder to ¼ cup of boiled water.
  2. Mix the Matcha green tea powder and water until they combine into a paste
  3. Add warm milk, we like to use almond milk, and whisk together.

You can add a teaspoon of Agave Nectar to sweeten it up if required, however I find the the almond milk does the trick.
